COVID Booster Available For Those With Compromised Immune System
If you or a loved one are fully vaccinated with a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, but have a moderately to severely compromised immune system, you are encouraged to get a COVID-19 booster of the same vaccine. The Louisiana Department of Health and CDC have released a Third Dose Medical Risk Factor Self Attestation Form with immunocompromised conditions to fill out, if interested in getting the COVID booster.
Some of the health conditions that could compromise your immune system include and make you a candidate for a booster are as follows:
* have active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
* had a organ or stem cell transplant in the last 2-years
* currently taking Modification that suppress the immune system
* living with advanced or untreated HIV infection
There are many other autoimmune/health conditions that make getting a COVID-19 booster an extra tool for avoiding the coronavirus, getting severely ill or hospitalized. For more info talk to your doctor, healthcare provider, call the Louisiana COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline at 1-855-453-0774, vaccines.gov or text your ZIP code to 438829.
Remember, to be eligible for the COVID-19 booster, you must be fully vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. If you need a COVID-19 booster it must be an
additional (third) dose from the same vaccine type. Another words, you CAN NOT mix and match.
