Abraham's Tent is a local shelter that has served hundreds, if not thousands of residents in their time of need. The shelter has been a part of the Lake Charles community for more than 28 years. At the helm is Pearl Cole, who serves as the shelter's Director and saving grace. She operates the men and homeless shelter and orchestrates daily meals for anyone who is hungry six days a week.

The shelter serves free hot lunches Monday through Saturday to hundreds of people weekly. As you could imagine they go through a ton of food. By year's end, the pantry at Abraham's Tent is nearly empty. So, it's time to stock up for 2022 and they are asking the community to come out and lend them a hand.

Friday, November 12 the shelter will hold their annual Pack the Tent Food Drive from  6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Abraham’s Tent, located at 2424 Fruge Street in Lake Charles. In years past, this event has been a success and Mrs. Pearl hoping next week's food drive will do just as good. Please come out and give what you can. Abraham's is open daily to offer assistance to the homeless and provides various services. That said, in addition to the food they will also be collecting personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies as well.
