Acadia Parish, LA (KPEL News) - Stories we hear in the news often leave us shaking our heads and wondering why. That is certainly the case with an arrest in Acadia Parish, specifically the small community of Evangeline. A young man has been arrested after attacking a member of his family with two different weapons.

At 10:20 on the night of May 2, 2024, Acadia Parish Sheriff's deputies were called out to Evangeline, a community northwest of Crowley, Louisiana. When they arrived, they discovered that 21-year-old Tristen Dale LeBlue had allegedly hit a family member with his vehicle. When the car hit that person, they rolled over it and fell to the ground. At that point, officials say, LeBlue got out of the car, grabbed a metal fence post, and began hitting them.

Deputies found LeBlue at his house and arrested him. He is charged with:

  • One count of Attempted Second Degree Murder
  • One count of 2nd Degree Battery
  • One count of Aggravated Assault

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department provided no further information about why LeBlue allegedly tried to hurt his relative or if any drugs or other mind-altering substances were involved.

If convicted on the attempted murder charge, he could spend at least ten years in prison at hard labor. LeBlue was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.

The victim is hospitalized but is in stable condition. That person has not been identified.
