Bald Eagle Seen Swimming in South Louisiana Lake
(KTDY) - When you're on the water in South Louisiana, you never know what you may see, and one man was fortunate enough to see a Bald Eagle swimming in a lake.
Yes, you read that correctly, Brandon Medice was on the water in South Louisiana when something in the lake caught his attention, and it was a large eagle swimming.
When you're on the water in South Louisiana, you might expect to see an alligator or other wildlife, but a Bald Eagle?
As Brandon moved across the lake, he noticed the bird and initially thought it was injured, but later learned it wasn't. David Begnaud, who shared Brandon's video from the lake, said the eagle made it to safety, and Brandon followed it to make sure it could reach safety, but why was the eagle swimming instead of flying?
David suspects the eagle dove for something in the water and, as a result, the large bird was weighed down and couldn't fly.
Since the bird was in a Louisiana lake, it was lucky there wasn't a hungry alligator or another animal in the water waiting for its next meal. Stunned to see this, Brandon said he followed the bird until it reached safety and that the eagle did not appear injured, as he saw no marks on the beautiful bird.
In recent years, we have seen more Bald Eagles in South Louisiana, so keep your eyes open; you never know where one may be, including in the water.
