The Dallas Mavericks might be on a generational run of bad decisions.

Going back to last year's trade deadline, the Mavericks gave up heavy draft assets to get P.J. Washington from the Charlotte Hornets, in the form of a First Round draft pick (top 2 pick protection). They also moved some draft capital around in a deal that brought Daniel Gafford to Dallas. Its hard to critique these moves, because the team did get to the NBA Finals...but they didn't win it. So they put their draft future at risk and didn't win a ring.

In the offseason, the team swung a historic trade to acquire an aging Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. While Thompson is a 4-time NBA Champ, he's 35-years-old now. But it made sense with the makeup of the team at that time.

All of the above moves make sense when one single piece is in place...Luka Doncic.

Luka covered up Thompson's age. Luka took the parts gathered at last years trade deadline, and made them viable in an offense.

But then the Mavericks did the unthinkable, and traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in one of the biggest trades in sports history. The team brought back a package headlined by expensive-and-often-injured star Anthony Davis. It left the whole sports world in shock.

Davis got hurt almost right away, literally in his first Mavericks game. While Luka played well in his Lakers debut.

This has all boiled over with Mavericks fans, who are now sharing their displeasure AT Mavericks games.

On Monday night, the Mavericks organization made another bonehead decision, and decided to start throwing out fans that didn't agree with their recent moves. One fan who mouthed "fire Nico" on the jumbotron was escorted out of the building during the game.

Nico would be Nico Harrison, the General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks, who orchestrated the Luka Doncic trade.

The Mavs are vowing to throw out fans who chant "Fire Nico", or hold up signs, or even pretend to say it on camera. They're claim is that it violates some "code of conduct" the NBA in enforcing, and trying to blame the league as a whole. Are they trying to say that "booing" a team is against the policy? What about complaining that a ref made a bad call? Yelling that you don't like the other team? Are all of these violations?

It really just looks like the Mavericks are throwing a hissy fit.
