Nationally Televised Wrestling Comes Back To Shreveport-Bossier

For the first time in over a decade, nationally televised pro wrestling will be coming to the Shreveport and Bossier City area. This week, AEW announced their live Collision show will be in Bossier City at Brookshire Grocery Arena in 2024.

The show is slated for Saturday, January 27th, 2024, and will be live on TNT.

AEW has announced a few matches for the event, but based on their promotional image, fans can expect to see the legendary Sting (on his farewell tour), Bryan Danielson, Bullet Club, Samoa Joe, Darby Allin, The House of Black, and more former champions.

As briefly mentioned, this could be one of Sting's final appearances on TV, or in a ring, in his career. Earlier this year, Sting announced he would be wrapping up his career in 2024, and he will do it at AEW's Revolution. The date of Revolution hasn't been announced, but it normally takes place early in the year. So this Bossier date will likely be close to that date.

Tickets for this event are set to go on sale December 1st, making it a great holiday gift idea.

But you shouldn't expect it to be just AEW Collision in Bossier City. AEW also owns Ring of Honor wrestling, and regularly holds Ring of Honor matches before and after AEW. So you could see Sting, Bullet Club, Darby Allin and more with AEW, then see massive Ring of Honor stars as well. Including the latest massive name added to the Ring of Honor roster...

You could also see Ring of Honor stars Athena, Dalton Castle, Eddie Kingston, Ethan Page, or even some drop-in stars like Claudio Castagnoli, El Hijo del Vikingo, Katsuyori Shibata, or Rocky Romero.

It should also be noted for both the AEW and Ring of Honor possibilities that both Adam Copeland (fka Edge) and Ric Flair have recently signed deals with AEW. So it is possible that either of these two could appear in Bossier City.

Shreveport has a historic place with the pro wrestling world. The roots of pro wrestling are buried DEEP in the fabric of the Shreveport community. Decades ago, Shreveport became a main landing spot for the Mid-South Wrestling Association. The names that graced the marquee for these events ended up becoming household names by the late 80s and early 90s.

Wrestlers like Ted DiBiase, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Mike Sharpe, and maybe most importantly, The Junk Yard Dog all fought in Shreveport. A good portion of the wrestlers who came through to entertain the crowds in the Shreveport area have ended up as WWE Hall of Fame members.

Multiple different championships were defended and won during matches in Shreveport, and with the explosion of the WWE Network online, you can see a lot of it. The online network has worked to acquire many tape libraries to upload. There are many matches you can now watch on the network.

It wasn't just those wrestling in Shreveport during that era who appreciated Shreveport's place in wrestling history. A-list superstar Matthew McConaughey not only attended pro wrestling shows in Shreveport, he fondly recounts the memories whenever he can. While wrestlers like John Cena speak glowingly about watching the matches that took place in Shreveport as well.
