TikTok To Start Imposing Time Limits On Louisiana Children
Here is the week's least appealing story for every 12-year-old: TikTok recently stated that they will start limiting children's viewing to one hour per day.
During the coming weeks, they'll be implementing a rule that will prevent anyone under the age of 18 from aimlessly watching videos for longer than 60 minutes.
Kids 12 and under will be unable to use it after the first hour unless a parent or guardian enters a code to extend viewing by 30 more minutes.
13 and older children can enter their own code. But, they will still receive alerts, so continuing to scroll will be their decision. All new accounts for anyone under the age of 18 will have it as their default setting.
Parents will receive additional information about how much time their children spend there. Also, you can alter your child's daily time limit. Adults can choose to opt in as well and receive the alerts if they so choose.
According to TikTok, they are acting out of concern. Yet, they might be attempting this to appease the feds.
Because the app was developed by a Chinese corporation, the United States has been considering outright banning it. They are concerned that China may use it to spy on us and steal our information.
Congress approved a bill in December to not allow the app on phones provided to government employees. The White House gave all government agencies this week to comply and remove the app.
