Lake Charles, LA [KNGT-FM] - Hot off the heels of this past weekend’s 4th annual McVey’s Seafood Boil-Off, organizers have announced the event will move from its current venue to a brand-new location in 2027.

For the past four years, the event has been held at Mary’s Lounge on Broad Street in Lake Charles. But with attendance surging and the festival outgrowing its current space, organizers have decided to move the boil-off to a larger venue in 2027.

Some of the reasons McVey's has decided to move the popular event to a new location in 2027 include limited parking and limited space inside and outside of the venue.

This year's boil-off just took place this past weekend, and the place was packed inside of Mary's and outside, too, where the stage and cooking teams were located. Hundreds of people descended on the famous honky tonk for a day filled with hot boiled crawfish, live music, a crawfish eating contest, and awards for the best boiled crawfish.

There were 17 teams at this year's event, and the top three boil-off teams took home trophies and cash prizes. The top prize was $1000 for first place and bragging rights for the year.

The 2027 edition of the McVey’s Seafood Boil-Off will move to Jellystone RV Park and Resort on Luke Powers Road in Lake Charles. While the official date has yet to be announced, the new venue will offer significantly more space for cook-off teams and festivalgoers, along with the option to camp and enjoy the event all weekend long.
