
McNeese Men’s & Women’s Basketball Announces 2026-27 Schedules
Lake Charles, Louisiana - As fall approaches and football season gets ready to kick off, basketball season is already starting to take shape in Lake Charles. McNeese men’s and women’s basketball have become a major part of the local sports scene over the last few years, and now both teams know what their Southland Conference schedules will look like. On Thursday, the Southland released the 2026-27 conference schedules for both the Cowboys and Cowgirls, giving fans their first look at what’s ahead this season.

McNeese Men's Basketball Releases 2026-27 Conference Schedule
Winning comes with a price, and McNeese is paying that price right now. The Cowboys have had major struggles scheduling non-conference games over the last few years, and this year is no different.

The Cowboys will open the 2026-27 season Nov. 2 against UAB in Rock Hill, South Carolina. They will also face Louisiana-Lafayette, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount and Texas State in non-conference play.
Coming off a 28-6 season and their third straight Southland Tournament championship, the Cowboys will open conference play Dec. 5 at home against Houston Christian.
McNeese will also host Incarnate Word on Dec. 7, Lamar on Jan. 2, Stephen F. Austin on Jan. 4, UTRGV on Jan. 16 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Jan. 18. After a tough stretch on the road, the Cowboys will finish the regular season with four of their final six conference games at home, including matchups with East Texas A&M, Northwestern State, Nicholls and LSU New Orleans. The Southland Conference Tournament returns to Lake Charles March 7-10.

McNeese Women's Basketball Releases 2026-27 Schedule
A new era of Cowgirl Basketball is getting ready to get underway in Lake Charles. First-year head coach Ashton Feldhaus has announced the McNeese women’s basketball schedule for the 2026-27 season. The schedule was released Thursday along with the Southland Conference schedule.
The Cowgirls, who won the Southland Conference regular-season championship last season, will play 15 home games this year. They will also face five other schools from Louisiana during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The Cowgirls will have several big in-state matchups early in the season. They host Louisiana Tech on Nov. 8 and UL-Lafayette on Dec. 9, while traveling to Grambling, LSU and Tulane. McNeese will also play Southern Miss and take part in the St. Pete Showcase, where the Cowgirls will face College of Charleston and North Dakota State.
McNeese begins Southland play Dec. 3 against Incarnate Word at home. The Cowgirls will also host several conference opponents throughout the season, including Houston Christian, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Southeastern, Northwestern State, LSU New Orleans, Nicholls and East Texas A&M.
The regular season ends March 2 against East Texas A&M, with the Southland Conference Tournament coming to Lake Charles March 8-11.
